Panduan ini berdasarkan pemerhatian,pengalaman serta ilmu Abang Chik yang cetek ini tentang Ray-ban Aviator dan Caravan models yang dihasilkan oleh dua syarikat terbesar sunglasses iaitu bausch & Lomb (USA) dan Luxottica (Italy). Walaupun semua model yang dihasilkan oleh Luxottica mempunyai markings yang tersendiri, tetapi ia tidak bermakna model Ray-ban keluaran B&L tidak dapat dijumpai di pasaran walaupun penghasilan sudah tidak dieluarkan lagi.

Sedikit sejarah ringkas tentang Ray-Ban B&L sunglasses, penghasilanya bermula pada tahun 1937 oleh Bausch & Lomb. Ianya hanya digunakan oleh tentera Udara Amerika Syarikat (U.S.A.F) sahaja. Tetapi pada tahun 1999,Bauch & Lomb telah muflis dan diambil alih oleh syarikat kaca mata gergasi Italy, Luxottica Group. Sekarang B&L lebih menumpukan terhadap pengeluaran alat-alat optometrist sahaja seperti contact lens. Sejak pengambil alihan B&L oleh Luxottica, mereka telah mengubah beberapa ciri marking sebelum ini. Dibawah adalah beberapa perubahan yang telah dilakukan ( berdasarkan pemerhatian Abang Chik untu 2 jenis Ray-ban yang dinyatakan diatas) :-

- BL ditukarkan kepada RB
- RB transparent pada sebelah kiri lens, tetapi untuk BL kedua-dua lens transparent BL.
- Mark "B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A." telah ditukar kepada"B&L RAY-BAN ITALY" pada bridge.


Vintage B&L Ray-Ban U.S.A. (Dikeluarkan sebelum 1999)
Adalah jenis yang sangat tinggi nilainya kerana sudah tidak di keluarkan lagi sekarang, dihasilkan beberapa dekad yang lalu oleh Bausch & Lomb U.S.A. Pada lens kanan terdapat Ray-ban logo warna emas dan putih (bergantung pada model). Kedua-dua belah lens mempunyai transparent BL hampir pada hinges. Juga mempunya BL logo pada nose pads dan "B&L Ray-Ban U.S.A." pada bridge.

Ray-ban baru keluaran Luxottica Group, Italy. RB logo terdapat pada lens kiri hampir dengan hinge. Juga mempunya RB logo pada nose pads dan "B&L RAY-BAN ITALY" mark pada bridge.

This guide was based on my observation of Ray Ban Aviator and Caravan models, produced by Bausch & Lomb, U.S.A and Luxottica, ITALY. Eventhough, all new model are now manufactured by Luxottica and have its markings, it does not mean that old stock of Rayban manufactured by B&L U.S.A. cannot be found on the market.

Ray-Ban is a high-end manufacturer of sunglasses, founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb, on commission of the United States Air Force (U.S.A.F.). In 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian Luxottica Group. Ray-ban has continuing to use B&L lenses for quite some time. Since Luxottica purchased Ray-Ban, they have changed some of the markings. Below are few changes (based on the observation of 2 models stated above)

- the BL etching has changed to RB on the lenses
- the RB is now only etched on the left hand side of the lenses, compared to previous BL is etched on both of the lenses.
- the mark "B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A." has been changed to "B&L RAY-BAN ITALY" on the bridge.


Vintage B&L Ray-Ban U.S.A. (Released before year 1999)
An old stock of vintage sunglasses, produced more than a few decades ago by Bausch & Lomb Ray-Ban U.S.A.
The right lens carries the Ray Ban logo in gold or white (depending on the model). Both lenses are etched BL next to the hinges. It also has BL logo marked on the nose pads and "B&L Ray-Ban U.S.A." marked on the bridge.
