MILAN — Italian eyewear giant Luxottica said on Wednesday it would launch the world's first range of glasses for watching 3D films with prescription lenses through its US brand Oakley later this year.
Oakley "has achieved unparalleled visual clarity while extending the wearer's peripheral viewing angle and providing a truer alignment of 3D images," Luxottica said in a statement.
Luxottica said it has been using the workshops of US industry giant DreamWorks Animation for testing.
The company said "premium editions in the new line will be the first 3D eyewear on Earth with optically correct lenses".
The first pairs of 3D glasses will be available in the United States later this year and will be launched in the rest of the world in 2011.
"We are very proud of this technological breakthrough," Andrea Guerra, chief executive of Luxottica, was quoted as saying.
The market for 3D cinema and television viewing is currently booming.
Fuji Chimera, a Japanese economic research centre, said in a study published in July that the number of televisions on the market equipped with 3D technology would constitute around half of the world total by 2015.

Coach team with Luxottica on eyewear
ROME—Italian eyewear maker Luxottica Group SpA and U.S. leather accessories brand Coach Inc. Tuesday announced an eyewear partnership expected to add more than $100 million a year in sales.
The move gives Luxottica, the world's largest eyewear maker, further traction in North America and Asia, where Coach is expanding. It also adds a large middle-market label to a portfolio full of high-end brands such as Bulgari SpA and Prada SpA.
"We think there's a lot of opportunity for somewhat accessible luxury today in the global market," said Antonio Miyakawa, executive vice president marketing, creative direction and product at Luxottica.
The multiyear deal, which begins in 2012, signals the end of Coach's existing contract with U.S. producer Marchon. Luxottica offers its own vast retail channel.
It's a good fit as Coach gains access to a global platform to accompany the rollout of its brand, while Luxottica gets a "great add-on to its otherwise very European luxury oriented portfolio," allowing it to avoid the risk of cannibalization, said Erwan Rambourg, an analyst for HSBC in London. He expects Coach to quickly establish itself as one of Luxottica's top five brands, alongside Prada, Chanel and D&G.
Mr. Miyakawa said Luxottica admires Coach's growth in the U.S. and expansion plans in Asia and expected Luxottica to be able to help it grow in Europe, too.

Beckham's son - Sunglasses for kids
LONDON: Move over Victoria Beckham, a new fashion star is on the rise--and it's none other than Romeo Beckham, her son.
At just eight-years, the lad has signed his first commercial deal - to design sunglasses for kids, and will be called RB.
The young entrepreneur has even roped in some of his celebrity buddies - including Suri Cruise, Leni (son of Heidi Klum and Seal), and TV chef Gordon Ramsay's brood.
"Romeo has a real eye for fashion. He has strong opinions on what works and what doesn't, and has been badgering David and Victoria for months about designing his own sunglasses," The Mirror quoted a source as saying.
"Both Victoria and David are delighted," the source added.
Romeo, the middle of the three Beckham boys, has always been fashion conscious - even while playing basketball.

Introduction
Ultraviolet is an electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength is shorter than visible light but longer than x-ray, range between 10nm to 400nm. It named because the spectrum consists of electromagnetic wave with higher frequency compared with human identification.

From the above table, generally UV can be divided into 3 major group, UVA, UVB, and UVC. We did not concern so much UVC since they will be absorb by ozone layer. However expose to UVA and UVB will be effected to vision and eye.

Radiation and your eye
There is many disadvantages of UV, it can burn your skin, skin cancer even worst for your eyes.
Extended exposure to the sun's UV ray may causes eye damage including cataracts, makular degeneration, pingueculae and pterygia and photokeratitis.
We used sunscreen to protect our body, but how about our eye? To protect our eye from the solar radiation, we can used sunglasses.
Wearing sunglasses to protect eye
To provide protection on eyes, sunglasses should be :-
- Block 99 until 100 percent of UVA and UVB
- Screen out 75 to 90 percent of visible light

Remember that sunglasses is not only for adult, it needs for children as well. As logically, children more spending time in the sun compared with adult. If you wearing contact lens, should bear in mind that you still need to wear sunglasses. Why? Because contact lens only covered some part of eye, the other part which exposure to sun ray (UV) might be damage you eye tissue, some more you feel more comfortable too because sunglass block the bright light.

Many misconceptions exist regarding the right sun protection for eyes, beer this in your mind :-

- Remember to wear sunglasses even when you are at shade. Although shade reduce UV and HEV to some degree, eye still exposure to UV ray reflected by building,roadway and other surface.
- Sunglasses important when winter, because fresh snow reflected 80 percent of UV nearly doubling overall exposure to solar UV radiation. So if you are skies or snowboarding, choosing the correct gogg lfor your activity.
